Employer Employee Relationship

Employee is the asset of a company. Therefore employers have to make sure the welfare of employee is taken care. The government of Malaysia, through Ministry of Human Resource, Malaysia and its departments has laid out policies, laws and regulations in all aspect of employment. As a basis in having harmony relationship, the Ministry provides a guideline on employer and employee relationship.

A sound employment policy is a prerequisite to good employer-employee relationship. The employment policy of Malaysia is as follows;

  • Redundancy and retrenchment

Employers are governed by a whole list of laws and regulations that provides provisions to protect the right and welfare of workers.

The Authorities

The laws and regulations are administered and enforced by the Department of Labour, Peninsular Malaysia, the Department of Labour, Sarawak and the Department of Labour, Sabah. Further more, employers also need to fulfil requirements of PERKESO, Industrial Relations Department, Trade Union Affairs Department and Occupational Safety and Health Department wherever applicable. Certain provisions may be different from of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. Please check the details with relevant departments where your operation is situated or will be located.
